Who is interested in Cholestech Systems and why?

With today's increased emphasis on early detection and disease prevention, the Cholestech LDX and GDX Systems are filling the needs of an ever-growing list of healthcare professionals. These powerful point-of-care solutions advance patient care and provide the physician with a solution to daily challenges such as declining revenues, increasing patient base and a number of administrative challenges. Cholestech Systems are also a major component in the rapidly growing health and wellness programs in hospitals, corporations, and community organizations.

Considering CLIA-waived labs are growing at over 6% a year and that Cholestech products are in only 11% of these CLIA-waived labs, there is a tremendous market growth opportunity for our distribution partners. In addition, with Cholestech's 98% customer satisfaction rating, distribution reps can sell Cholestech products with confidence.

Identifying New Customers

It is likely that many of your current customers would make ideal Cholestech customers as well. Asking a few simple questions can help you determine if the Cholestech LDX or GDX Systems could help benefit your customers.

Asking the Right Questions

Physician Office

Are you currently doing testing in your office?

  • This will indicate whether the account has a CLIA certificate* and proper staffing for testing.
  • If they are already testing you should determine if they are CLIA-waived or nonwaived.

* Ensure that your accounts are aware that in-office laboratory testing requires a CLIA certificate. Visit CLIA Compliance Central for more information and resources.

What percentage of your patient population is Medicare?

  • Medicare reimbursement is favorable and prompt, therefore greater than 50% is ideal.
  • HMOs typically do not reimburse for in-office testing therefore the fewer HMO patients in the makeup the better, generally less than 50%.

How many tests (lipid profiles or A1C) do you send out each week?

  • Ideally the volume should be at least 5 tests per week. Current screening recommendation for lipids are at least every 5 years. If patients are starting on drug therapy monitor every 6 weeks until goal is achieved. For A1C the testing recommendation is 2-4 times a year for people with diabetes.

Do you currently test your patients for hs-CRP?

  • If the answer is yes, how many tests do they request per week?
  • If no, educate the customer, drop off literature and contact your Cholestech representative.

Do you know you can also test for liver enzymes on the LDX System?

Find out how many liver panels they request each week. Educate the customer on the need for liver enzyme testing for patients taking cholesterol-lowering and antidiabetic drugs.
